THE SYNDROME
John Case
Read by Dick Hill

This writer tends to be highly complex, esoteric, and offbeat, with little or no leeway for a flawed reading. Fortunately, Dick Hill is more than equal to the task. This high-energy yarn is about a woman who first blames her dead sister's shrink, Jeff Duran, for her suicide, then teams up with him to unmask the villains who caused her sister's death and unravels Duran's mysterious past. Along the way, the listener encounters a long buried CIA secret, assassinations, mind control experiments, and a plot to kill a respected world leader. Hill's announcer-like voice is near perfect, his foreign accents wholly believable, and his vocal gymnastics delightful. Unlike many readers who always appear to be playing catch-up, Hill always seems to anticipate his next line. A.L.H. © AudioFile 2001, Portland, Maine [Published: OCT/ NOV 01]
