BOOTSTRAPPER From Broke to Badass on a Northern Michigan Farm

Narrator Karen White paints a portrait of a weary but determined mother, Mardi Jo Link, who is facing an upcoming divorce and takes charge of the family's unstable finances to save her northern Michigan farm while raising her three boys. Learning along the way, Link resorts to extreme frugality and sets her boys to work helping to secure her dream of staying on the farm, even when it seems a foolish proposition given the dire financial straits she faces. White sounds by turns tough and tender, discouraged but never despairing. She captures Link's strength and sense of humor in the face of the challenges she must overcome in the wake of her divorce.
