LETTERS FOR EMILY

by | Read by Jeffrey DeMunn

Fiction • 4.5 hrs. • Abridged • © 2002

In a touching tale, author Camron Wright sets a fictional story around poems written by his grandfather. Each poem has a message and a password hidden within that unlocks a message from a dying Harry Whitney to his granddaughter, Emily. As the characters in the story struggle with less than perfect lives and relationships, Harry's wisdom carries special importance. Actor Jeffrey DeMunn reads the story with aplomb, especially when playing the part of Harry himself. However, his portrayal of the women in the story leaves something to be desired, falling flat and lacking the depth expressed in the male roles. That shortcoming aside, the story is excellent, as is the deeper meaning conveyed. And best of all is a short message at the end from Wright, explaining the special importance of the poems. H.L.S.
