SMUGGLER'S MOON

by | Read by John Lee

Fiction • 10.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2001

In the days of the sailing ships Sir John Fielding, the blind magistrate of Bow Street, is temporarily assigned to the Kentish town of Deal to defeat a band of smugglers. He brings along his two teenaged wards; the male one, Jeremy, functions as the first-person narrator herein. In a series of encounters and deaths, the secret villain is glaringly obvious, and Fielding saves the day. Reader John Lee's accents are appropriate, and his pronunciation is accurate. The story lacks the high drama of Forester or O'Brian's work but is an enjoyable listen. D.R.W. (c) AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine [Published: AUG/SEP 02]
