Her compassion and understanding for Jemima and her dreams bring the book's heroine to fully dimensional life. Rosenblat's timing, impeccable as always, works equally well in both comic and tragic sequences. Of particular note is her uncanny ability to switch effortlessly between British and American accents when Jemima travels to California.
