Biography & Memoir • 6.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2001

This delightful book read by author Marian Keyes is more of a cozy conversation than a series of essays, hilarious most of the time, but profoundly distressing in parts due to Keyes's battle with alcoholism. The listener feels an immediate friendship with the author's confiding tone. If there's a flaw in the essays, it's merely that the listener can't chat back. Whether moving into a new flat, buying more shoes, spending the holidays at home, or traveling, herself and himself seem to be able to carry through the most awful situations with stiff upper lips. Keyes is excellent at communicating her own ups and downs, her voice conspiratorial and intimate. B.H.B. (c) AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine [Published: OCT/ NOV 02]
