LAW OF GRAVITY

by | Read by Dylan Baker

Mystery & Suspense • 6 hrs. • Abridged • © 2002

Martin Green, a religious Congressional Committee aide, has disappeared. All signs point to espionage, but not for Philip Barkley, a tarnished federal prosecutor assigned to investigate Green's disappearance and eventual death. All is not as it seems in a novel whose events harken back to the Nazis and concludes with political intrigue. Dylan Baker's marvelous performance more than compensates for the story's failure to tie up all of its loose ends. His portrayal of Barkley offers just the right balance of indignation, cockiness, fear, and questionable self-confidence. While every character is well defined, Baker's depiction of retired NYPD detective F.X. McSorley is the highlight of the book, particularly when McSorley plays "baseball" with two thugs. D.J.S.
