THE RAVEN HOVERS

Hitler's invasion of Poland brings estranged brothers and British soldiers, Stefan and Marek, together with Stefan's lover and fellow freedom fighter, Danusia. The atrocities of war, coupled with the fear of losing each other, creates an unusually strong bond among the three Gestapo resisters. Sian Thomas gets little respite from the detailed, rigorous descriptions consistently applied by the author. Her skilled and articulate performance glides effortlessly over the long and tedious passages describing horrific Nazi tactics, "underground" spy missions, soul searching, and forbidden discussions between Danusia and Marek, and endless descriptions of the daily terror experienced by Polish civilians.
