SYDNEY, INVINCIBLE

by | Read by Christina Moore

Children Ages 10+ • 3.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1995

In this sequel to SYDNEY, HERSELF, Sydney finds herself the somewhat unwilling editor of the school newspaper and an extremely unwilling student in her mother's American History class. Then when she finds out her mother is pregnant, Sydney hardly knows what to think about anything. A smart and sassy teenaged girl like Sydney Downie is a breath of fresh air, and Christina Moore is the perfect narrator to bring her to life. With slight inflections, she convincingly lets us know when Sydney is disgusted or angry or happy or weepy. The book includes a number of notes between members of Sydney's family and letters back and forth with Sydney's boyfriend. These could be deadly in audio format, but Moore makes them as interesting as the dialogue and Sydney's private thoughts. All audio productions should be this good. A.F.
