THE PHENOMENON OF TEILHARD

by | Read by Philip Coulter

Spirituality • 2 hrs. • Audio Program • © 2002

The CBC's program provides a wonderful introduction to the thought of French Jesuit Teilhard de Chardin. De Chardin was an archaeologist by training and a mystic by calling, who applied the idea of evolution to human consciousness and spirituality. Coulter interviews those who knew de Chardin, as well as scholars in academic disciplines ranging from cultural history to mathematical cosmology about the implications of his writings. Interviews with several undergraduates show just how far de Chardin's influence reaches. Some of the speakers' voices are weakened by age, and some speak English with French accents, but sound quality is universally high, and the producers take care to introduce all speakers and put their relationship to de Chardin in context.
