Hardeep Dhaliwal is a writer and student of kundalini yoga, but rather than trying to explain this complex ancient discipline by herself, she wisely interviews a range of teachers and practitioners. The resulting multifaceted explanation puts kundalini in context. Dhaliwal relates this "serpent power," a kind of spiritual energy fundamental to all practices aiming at enlightenment, to experiences more common to listeners, like prayer or psychotherapy, and shares excerpts from classic spiritual poetry. Those interviewed speak with a range of accents, and the chants used in some practices are included, but sound quality is universally high. This is an excellent introduction to kundalini, and to yoga in general. G.T.B. (c) AudioFile 2003, Portland, Maine [Published: FEB / MAR 03]
