BIRD'S-EYE VIEW

Earphones Award Winner

by | Read by Tom Stechschulte

Mystery & Suspense • 14.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2001

Fritz Tullis has retreated to a ramshackled fishing cabin on Maryland family property to lick his emotional wounds when his life as a college professor falls apart after his affair with the dean's wife. Bird watching and photography, and drinking, are his main pursuits, and the first two cause him to witness and capture on film a murder. His involvement leads to danger, as well as changes in his life, as he tries to determine whom he can trust. Tom Stechschulte's narration reflects the weariness and apathy that have crept into Fritz's life; then the narration picks up speed and tension as Fritz learns about a high-level cover-up. Stechschulte inhabits all the characters, superbly conveying age, power, and gender. A gripping story makes for a satisfying thriller, beautifully read. M.A.M.
