Van Waveren's story is exceedingly complex. It provides a historical context for his meeting with Jung and some explanations of how Jung's theories apply to the present age. But it also shares personal accounts of Van Waveren's explorations of his own psyche, including encounters with earlier incarnations. As a result, Olivier Bernier and the other narrators faced a challenging task. Nevertheless, they managed to negotiate among all the psychic upheavals. After an early section is delivered as a somewhat distanced narration, later sections are delivered in a lively storytelling form, rich with pauses and tonal shifts that distinguish among the many identities accessed in this personal mythic journey.
