Virtually nobody thinks that the Northern armies produced better leaders than the Southerners did during the Civil War. It is often heard that if the South had had physical resources equal to the North, the outcome would have been quite different. This biography exhaustively details the life of Lieutenant General Stonewall Jackson, who was one of the top three military men in the Confereracy until his death from friendly fire in 1863. (The others were Generals Robert E. Lee and James Longstreet.) The listener is struck particularly by Jackson's deep religiosity.
