ALICE AND GRETA A Tale of Two Witches

Alice and Greta are as different as two witches can be--Alice is kind and helpful, while Greta thrives on making people miserable. Kate Forbes's narration emphasizes those differences quite clearly, with soft, fluid tones for Alice, and lower, more staccato tones for Greta. Delivered in her crusty, comforting voice, Forbes's pacing, expression, and vocal tones enhance the story, and help create a clear picture of the characters for young readers. The illustrations published as part of the original picture book would have added to this production, but only on the last "page" do you feel their lack in this version. W.L.S.
