DREAMS BEFORE THE START OF TIME

Narrator Susan Duerden adeptly portrays the various evolving relationships between a two friends, Millie and Toni; their children; and their parents as three generations face fundamental questions about what it means to be a parent. In this futuristic story, evolving technologies provide a range of options for conception. Duerden captures the characters' familiarity with each other as well as the milestones they've shared, particularly the longstanding intimacy of Millie and Toni. Narrator Derek Perkins contributes a couple of chapters told from the point of view of a sperm donor who meets one of the resulting children who has sought him out.
