This audiobook is a true bodice ripper. But what makes it different is that it's about African-Americans in the American West in the late nineteenth century. Thomas Perry's voice is sexy, a quality that seems appropriate for this genre. However, he also adds complexity to this shoot-'em-up with his ability to bring defiance and innocence to the heroes' voices while filling the dialogue of villains with both insecurity and malice.
