THE SLEEPING BEASTLY AND OTHER TALES

In this collection, Willy Claflin assumes the persona of Maynard Moose to tell five stories. Maynard Moose has a goofy voice and is full of malapropisms, traits that by themselves elicit giggles from the live audience on the recording. More laughter ensues as Maynard inserts moose into familiar stories. Maynard's voice can get a bit tiresome for an adult audience, but Claflin's stories also contain some sophisticated humor. His parody of Robert Bly's men's movement is particularly funny in "Iron John Robin and the Little Drummer Boy." This collection is a treat for anyone who loves storytelling. A.F.
