Through this exchange, we're treated to discussions of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, contemporary advances in science and technology, events leading to the War of 1812, and many others big and small. The correspondence has a feeling of immediacy that will captivate its intended audience of 8- to 12-year-olds. George Guidall et al. offer wonderful performances.
