[Editor's Note: This is a combined review with LIVING ADVENTURES FROM THE BIBLE, Volume 2.]--Children who listen to Kelley's versions of these well-known Bible stories will better understand those they hear in church since she does a fine job distilling their sometimes complex plots. Kelley's Bible characters come across not as dry ancient figures, but as real people with real problems they need to solve. The two volumes include, among others, stories of Ruth and Naomi, Joseph and his brothers, Daniel in the lion's den, and the Lost Sheep. Kelley's lively dramatizations use many voices for the numerous characters. This production is relatively unadorned with sound effects (just a few musical touches and the echoing voice of God), but Kelley doesn't need frills to captivate her listeners.
