HEROES AND OUTLAWS OF THE BIBLE Downhome Reflections of History's Most Colorful Men and Women

by | Read by Don Reid

Philosophy & Religion • 4 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2002

This is one audiobook that has to be infinitely better than the print version. The content is solid enough. Don Reid, a member of the country western group the Statler Brothers, retells the stories of Daniel, John the Baptist, and several other major Bible heroes. The facts will be familiar to anyone who has read them in the Bible. However, Reid's style sets this informal treatment apart from most others. His Southern accent adds a folksy twang to many words. ("Pharaoh" becomes "FAY-row," for example.) Reid's leisurely pace gives listeners time to absorb the stories, and his knack for recasting people like Samson as colorful good old boys is downright fun. G.T.B.
