THE VACANT THRONE

by | Read by Stuart Langton

Fantasy • 13.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2000

The king has risen to power, but that’s just the beginning of what must happen to restore peace and prosperity to the kingdom. Dark and invidious forces are at work and not easily thwarted, but magic, perseverance, and the united forces of good cannot be kept at bay. Stuart Langton has a grave and somber manner for these serious events. The sound is clear and Langston sets a good pace, but the tone is dark and weighs heavily. Given the long narrative passages, a lighter tone would have been welcome. Nonetheless, Langton's narrative voice is strong, and he helps to bring both characters and story alive.
