This second book in the Windham Brides series follows the story of Anwen Windham and Colin MacHugh, an Irish lord. Narrator James Langton does an admirable job delivering the voice of the Scotsman MacHugh as he takes his place in English society and romances Anwen. Langton's deep, commanding voice serves as the perfect backdrop to the developing romance. His portrayals of Anwen and the other female characters are less convincing. In particular, the vivacious and headstrong heroine sounds breathy and dreamy rather than the strong and determined woman she is. As Anwen and Lord MacHugh grow closer, they're drawn into mystery and intrigue. Listeners will be eagerly awaiting the next entry in this series.
