THE BISHOP AND THE MISSING L TRAIN

by | Read by Various

Mystery & Suspense • 7.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2000

George Guidall, Johnny Heller, and Johanna Parker all lend their talents to this mystery featuring the crime-solving Bishop Blackie Ryan. When Bishop Gus Quill of the Archdiocese of Chicago disappears--along with the L train he was riding--Bishop Blackie is quickly called in. The team of narrators easily helps the listener make the switches among the cast of suspects as each reads from a different perspective. Johanna Parker especially shines as she emotes the pain of a woman whose life has been torn apart by an annulled marriage who is challenging herself to love again. Although the mystery itself is short on clues and a bit unsatisfying, the narrators skillfully draw the listener into the lives of Bishop Blackie's parishioners and the practices of the Catholic Church.
