CRUISE OF THE COMMISSIONER

It was an accident when the CARYATID, a ship in the Celtic lighthouse service, crashed into the Mermaid Bakery. But the crash was a mistake that could mean the end of Captain Septimus Macready's career--especially if old rival Captain James Stanier, now a lighthouse service commissioner, has anything to do with it. The ensuing battle of wills leaves Macready torn between concern for his crew and an enticing retirement with his mistress. Gordon Griffin's reading of the sea novel is a droll delight as the entangled lives of the crew and their loves unfold. Griffin is also adept with the emotional battle faced by Macready, as well as an exciting conclusion. This ribald farce is one to enjoy.
