HOLLYWOOD TOUGH

by | Read by Paul Michael

Mystery & Suspense • 10 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2003

At a Hollywood party, Detective Shane Scully overhears a remark by a famous producer who is engaged to a good friend of Alexa, his wife and boss. The remark sends warning tingles up and down his spine, and, despite pleas from Alexa not to look into it, Scully soon finds himself involved in a complicated web of murder, drugs, gangs--and his own son, Cheech. Paul Michael reads in an upbeat tempo that avoids melo-drama. His performance is understated, yet effective. The characters' voices are differentiated and convincing, and the listener will have no problem following the complex storyline with many threads that end up, to Scully's surprise, coming together. A few Yiddish words are mispronounced, a minor flaw in an otherwise excellent performance. S.S.R. (c) AudioFile 2003, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN/JUL 03]
