THE COTTAGE

by | Read by David Garrison

Fiction • 9 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2002

Aging movie star Cooper Winslow sees no reason to limit his lavish lifestyle, not even to accommodate his severely reduced income. When Coop's accountant insists he rent out portions of his huge estate, the new tenants provide much more than rent. David Garrison takes the predictable plot in hand, extracting maximum entertainment value from the text. His male characters spring to life, particularly the urbane, but kind Cooper Winslow. Females come through competently, though they're indistinguishable one from another. Tying the whole together is a narration of lively pace and clear, unstilted enunciation. Garrison treats the story as the escape novel it is. But what a fun way to escape! R.P.L. (c) AudioFile 2003, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/MAY 03]
