THE LAST TEMPTATION

by | Read by Gerard Doyle

Mystery & Suspense • 16.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2002

Several disconnected plots are interwoven in this Dr. Tony Hill/DCI Carol Jordan thriller. Jordan is in Germany on the trail of Tadeusz Radecki, a known trafficker in drugs and illegal immigrants; Hill, profiler extraordinaire, finds himself in Germany also, trying to track down a serial killer who is targeting psychologists. Graphic descriptions of torture are in abundance, along with a healthy dose of sex. Gerard Doyle is brilliant at using a deliberate tempo, rather than melodrama, to enhance the tension. While the British and Scots characters are read with varying accents, Doyle opts not to read the European characters with individually accented voices. A highly enjoyable performance, despite some sloppy editing that escaped the producer's ear. S.S.R. (c) AudioFile 2003, Portland, Maine [Published: AUG/SEP 03]
