Richard Hedon hears about Paul Clyro's disappearance and, attracted to Clyro's wife, reluctantly agrees to help her find him. The decision takes him to Madeira, where he gets caught up in murder and intrigue. This is a quiet, introspective "thriller," rather than one that is packed with action. Nigel Graham chooses to read in a deliberate pace that engages the listener immediately. Emotional scenes are read with feeling and drama. Both male and female voices are persuasive and easily distinguishable, and the foreign accents are credible. While all the problems are too neatly and quickly resolved in the last chapter, this will be enjoyed by fans of the genre. S.S.R. © AudioFile 2003, Portland, Maine [Published: DEC 03/JAN 04]
