STRAIGHT FROM THE ROAD Adventures in Zeldatherpete

Come along for the ride as Straight, a sometime songwriter and full-time adventurer, drives a converted eighteen-wheel truck to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska ("because it's there") from Key West ("and I'm here"). Along the way he visits relatives, meets people curious and colorful, shares his opinions, runs out of gas and money, and tells us about it in an "aw-shucks" manner that is easy on the ears. He introduces himself on each tape ("no kin to George [Strait]") and then picks up where he left off, be it an open mike in Montana or a roadside cafe on the Alcan Highway. His humor is hokey, but his delivery is infectious. Tape 6 is his "demo" song tape, many of which he sells/gives away en route. Straight's gift for storytelling may take him far. J.B.G.
