Five children, three boys and two girls, take a holiday in the country and are ready for an adventure. Jan Francis has a British accent and sounds middle-aged, so listeners have to use their imaginations when she attempts the dialogue of the young boys. Since there are three other children in the story, in addition to the famous five, the parts gets confusing at times, especially in the dramatic scenes when Francis reads rapidly. But after a slow start, the perky and proper Francis improves as she gets into the story. A.G.H.
