This last installment in Hellman's memoirs focuses on her experiences, and those of her friends and acquaintances, during the McCarthy era, including her defiance of the House Committee on Un-American Activities. Kate Reading's understated narration captures Hellman's spirit as she goes up against the self-designated protectors of democracy.
