Three older children are self-appointed sleuths. Despite their young age, they're pretty good at the job, locating a kidnapped author and bank robber. David Pittu's pleading voice is especially suited to this work. The kids sound realistic, especially when they whine and beg, and Pittu makes listeners empathize with little Ruth Rose when she loses her cat. He conveys the dangerous situations the children get into by speaking more softly and slowly, adding suspense. Although somewhat predictable, these stories are irresistible to kids. A.G.H.
