INUIT LEGENDS

The intonation and storytelling skills of these performers evoke the nuances of Inuit oral literature. The twelve-member cast clearly performs the stories in English, although the stories are often prefaced and interspersed with Inuit. The works will appeal both to those familiar and unfamiliar with the Inuit landscape and legends. Themes focus on the Inuit relationship to nature. This recording is best enjoyed on a quality listening system, as there are many soft background sounds, such as the sound of footsteps in snow, that are integral to the stories. R.F.
