CIA Counterterrorism Expert Mitch Rapp returns in the latest thriller by Vince Flynn. This time Rapp's cover has been blown, and he's been given a desk job. His no-nonsense wife, a TV anchorwoman, has forbidden her husband from returning to active duty. But when circumstances at home and abroad force Rapp to "unretire," he goes to the Philippines and eventually back to Washington on the trail of an assassin bent on creating a Palestinian State. As usual, George Guidall's reading is flawless. As he keeps the story moving at a brisk pace, Guidall saves his best performances for the interactions between Rapp and his new wife and between Rapp and CIA Chief Irene Kennedy. The scene in which the two women discuss Rapp's gunshot wound to the derrire is particularly memorable. D.J.S.
