DAY OF RECKONING

Jack Higgins's thrillers are always fast-moving and filled with intrigue. In this novel, masterfully read by Frank Muller, former FBI agent and White House aide Blake Johnson seeks revenge for the murder of his ex-wife by Jack Fox, a suspected crime boss. After learning of his wife's brutal death, Johnson works with his connections in Ireland and the Middle East to create a plan that extracts economic (and psychological) vengeance on Fox, slowly destroying his worldwide gambling and smuggling empire. As usual, Higgins's story is filled with action, and Muller's timing, coupled with his uncanny ability to give every character the right voice, enhances the story and keeps it going toward its dramatic conclusion.
