FAT OLLIE'S BOOK A Novel of the 87th Precinct

by | Read by Michael Arkin

Mystery & Suspense • 8.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2002

Oliver Wendell Weeks--Fat Ollie--is a fat, pompous, bigoted detective from the 88th Precinct. Teamed up with the 87th's Steve Carella to solve the assassination of a city councilman, Fat Ollie is more concerned with getting back the manuscript of a novel that was stolen from the back of his squad car than with finding the councilman's killer. As with all of McBain's writing, FAT OLLIE'S BOOK deftly weaves multiple plot threads into a thoroughly entertaining story. Michael Arkin plays the part of Fat Ollie well, but his performance becomes grating when he forgets to tone down the husky obnoxiousness when reading other characters. S.E.S.
