THE DE-VALUING OF AMERICA

by | Read by Robert Morris

Contemporary Culture • 13.5 hrs • Unabridged • © 1992

Bennett reviews his experiences as Chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities, Education Secretary, and head of the Drug Enforcement Agency for Presidents Reagan and Bush. Some authors don’t do well narrating their own books, but Bennett, a first-class public speaker, should have done so. Reader Robert Morris dulls an interesting text with a pedestrian and pedantic approach. He reads slowly and tries to add feeling, but he sounds like a retired minister with most of the fire gone out. The whole exercise is an opportunity lost. D.W. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: DEC 95]
