FATHERS AND DAUGHTERS

Fay Marlow's first marriage was for love; it lasted but a year. Her second was for convenience; it produced daughters and a happy family life--happy, that is, until her first husband reappears after a twenty-year absence. It's up to Margaret Tyzack to tie together the many threads Anthea Fraser has left unspun. Tyzack does it with slight changes in her tone as she reads. She gives a clear rendition of the story by simply reading it, a strategy that puts the burden of recall on the mind of the listener. J.P.
