THE PURPLE RIBBON

Spring is a female mouse whose life is intertwined with a piece of purple ribbon. A gift from her Grand Dora, the ribbon saves her life, and her babies, several times. Narrator Suzanne Toren speaks lightly and precisely, making the tale seem to float along. It moves smoothly as Spring and her family age and change. Toren's fluid voice conveys Spring's upbeat personality well. Her mellifluous tone reflects the way Spring flows along with the abrupt changes in her life--even when there is alarming danger for the mice.
