NIGHTFALL

The Canadian answer to "The Twilight Zone," "Nightfall" ran on CBC Radio for three years. These adventurous radio dramas are designed to terrify and titillate, and to inspire a little reflection on the stranger sides of life. Needless to say, sci-fi, horror, and fantasy are by nature melodramatic, but "Nightfall" is entertaining nonetheless. The cast sounds more than willing to chew the scenery, and the production team is game to embellish the audio field with synthesizers, sound effects, and music. This is expert audio theater, but it still falls somewhat short of Rod Serling's work. D.J.B.
