A LOVE STORY FOR BEWILDERED GIRLS

The three narrators of this romantic comedy set in Leeds, England, play their characters charmingly. Grace, portrayed in an airy Yorkshire accent by Annabel Scholey, has fallen in love at first sight with a beautiful woman, only to find that the woman has a wandering eye. Violet, depicted in a childlike Greater Manchester accent by Lucy Dixon, experiences anxiety episodes that severely inhibit her daily life. The standout narrator is Christine Hewitt, voicing Annie, who finds herself in a romantic pickle. Hewitt's no-nonsense voice reflects the tough, self-assured lawyer. When her new beau gradually reveals himself as less than the upright gentleman she'd thought him to be, Hewitt's strong-willed performance makes Annie's predicament all the more comedic and relatable.
