PEOPLE LIKE OURSELVES

by | Read by Patricia Boyer

Fiction • 8.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2003

The social life of Johannesburg is changing in front of Julia's eyes, and what was de rigueur when she was a socialite bride is no longer a consideration of the modern generation in South Africa. The generational gap must affect our feelings upon hearing this story because it's difficult to follow. Patricia Boyer does not offer any animation to the narration. She speaks lethargically--as if the telling of the tale is too much to demand of her. Sometimes she puts a bit of life into a character, but mostly she reads tiredly. Dangerous listening for a driver. J.P. (c) AudioFile 2004, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN/ JUL 04]
