RAFE A Buff Male Nanny: Loose Ends, Book 1

by | Read by Lacy Laurel

Romantic Fiction • 6.25 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2018

Narrator Lacy Laurel conveys cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Sloan Copeland's frustration when her nanny abruptly resigns. Sloan quickly hires male nanny Rafe Whitcomb, who bonds with Sloan and her personable twin daughters. Laurel employs youthful voices for Sloan's twins, adding humor to Weatherspoon's story. Sloan herself sounds appealing. For Rafe, Laurel chooses a much lower voice, which makes him sound stiff and mutes his amusement over Sloan's careful manner. Rafe also is not given the Boston accent indicated in Weatherspoon's text. Laurel struggles with accurate phrasing, and in descriptive passages she reads rather than narrates. Conversations with Sloan's friends don't always achieve the natural flow of dialogue. Weatherspoon's thoughtful story smooths but cannot overcome some awkwardness in this narration.
