THE PERFECT DATE

In this multicultural romance narrated by Paula Andrea, Angel Gomez is a Puerto Rican single mother and nursing student, and Caleb "The Duke" Lewis is an African-American baseball star. What begins as a chance meeting soon leads to much more. Andrea's lively narration is full of unusual tonal choices and inconsistent accents, both of which distract the listener. Her performance has a lighthearted style that is disconcerting during scenes full of drama. Additionally, Andrea's voice sounds like a young teenager's, while the story's characters are in their early 20s. With unfortunate narrator casting, this audiobook is far from the perfect listen.
