In this charming listen, narrator Therese Plummer portrays Cassie Hanwell—a confident, talented firefighter whose solitary life is upended when her estranged mother asks her to relocate to Boston. Though she is less than enthusiastic about the move, the timing is perfect, as life in Houston has hit some personal and professional bumps. As Cassie tries to fit in at an all-male firehouse and works to navigate her complicated relationships, Plummer shines. Her narration is impeccable—she is funny and sarcastic as she shares Cassie's thoughts, sometimes in monologue form. The conversations between characters are also well done—fast paced, emotional, and entertaining. A wonderful story of forgiveness, friendship, love, and hope.
