CABBAGE PATCH FIB

by | Read by Kate Hosking

Children Ages 6+ • 24 min. • Unabridged • © 1988

The trouble begins when 8-year-old Chris asks where babies come from, and his dad tells him "the cabbage patch." This delightful story about the demands of taking care of babies is meant for young listeners but would also be perfect for classes on the perils of teenaged pregnancy. Kate Hosking is splendid as each family member, including the green baby that Chris finds under a cabbage leaf. Hosking brings great humor to the story while maintaining dignity and charm as Chris's harried parents and classmates encounter a fantasy that contains some believability, as well. Australian Bolinda Audio deserves kudos for producing a charming story and an important lesson for listeners to hear at an early age. S.G.B.
