TOAD HEAVEN

This hero's quest features a most unusual hero--the cane toad, considered by some to be the national pest of Australia. Limpy, the lame hero, dreams of leading his species to a safe haven--a national park free of persecuting humans with their off-road vehicles. Accompanied by his little sister, Charm, and his best friend, Goliath, he overcomes danger by using his head in surprising and resourceful ways. Clever word play will tickle children and adults. Not all authors make the best readers of their own work, but Gleitzman is just right.
