THE MIRACLES OF SANTO FICO

It's a storyteller's maxim: When choosing between truth and legend--always go with legend. In D.L. Smith's wonderful tale of life in a forgotten little town in Tuscany, vivid characters like the greedy and conniving Leo Pizzola and his partner in crime, the loveable Topo, must pay penance by manufacturing a miracle that will renew beloved Father Elio's faith in himself and in God. Their hilariously bungled attempts ultimately pay off in something truly miraculous.
