DESERT DANGER

by | Read by Carine Montbertrand

Young Adult • 2.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1995

Kayo Benton and Rosie Saunders are on vacation when Kayo is the victim of mistaken identity. As the danger mounts Rosie must act quickly to save her. Montbertrand narrates the story without differentiating the character voices. Instead, she uses a blend of emotional intensity and reading speed to distinguish the characters and dramatize the story. The soft tones and slightly high pitch of Montbertrand's voice make it a good match for the story, as her voice reflects both the innocence and eagerness of the two young girls. Using long pauses and slow enunciation, she intensifies the scenes of suspense and danger. From the Frightmare series, the story will have girls 11 years and older asking for more.
